Show Line numbers in Oracle jDeveloper Code Editor

To show line numbers in the code editor of Oracle JDeveloper follow these steps:

Click on Tools Menu, then click Preferences

Preferences dialog will appear. In Code Editor section, click Line Gutter. Then select the option "Show Line Numbers"

Fix java.lang.OutOfMemory Java Heap Space error in JDeveloper

Why out-of-memory error is thrown? Permanent Generation: The Permanent Generation is where class files are kept. These are the result of compiled classes and JSP pages. If this space is full, it triggers a Full Garbage Collection. If the Full Garbage Collection cannot clean out old unreferenced classes and there is no room left to expand the Permanent Space, an Out‐of‐ Memory error (OOME) is thrown and the JVM will crash. There are three basic JVM command switches that control the amount of memory in the Java heap. -XX:Xms -XX:Xmx -XX:MaxPermSize -XX:Xms used to set memory available to JVM initially. -XX:Xms used to set maximum amount of memory into which the JVM can grow . -XX:MaxPermSize are used to set size for Permanent Generation. Changing preference to open pages in Source View instead of Design View in Oracle jDeveloper

Whenever we open files like JSP Page Fragments, JSP Pages, HTML code, etc. they always open in Design view instead of source code which makes large files or files with many components to load slower. So, do we have any way which enables Jdeveloper to open files directly in Source Code view instead of opening the Design editor? Yes, we can change this default setting. To change this setting follow these steps: Go to Tools Menu, then click Preferences Preferences dialog will appear. In files Files Types section, switch to Default Editors Tab. Select the file type for which you want to change the default editor and then change the editor from Default Editor drop down at the bottom. For example, here we have changed the default editor of JSP Source file type to Source. So from now whenever you open any file of type JSP Source, JDeveloper will open its source code instead of design view.

Clearing Oracle JDeveloper temp and cache directory with hotkeys

Oracle JDeveloper keeps on creating temp, cache and history files. So as a best practice to boost up your JDeveloper performance keep deleting the files frequently. Every time you can't go these directories to manually delete the files, so you can assign hotkeys to perform this delete operation.
